Here's my update on Carla's No-Low Spend Challenge for the week.
It's been a very busy week. Unfortunately, we got hit by a stomach bug and I spent most of Tuesday in bed. Then Amy spent all Wednesday in bed. The weather was so cold that we kept the kids home on Tuesday as well. If the buses aren't running, then I am not letting my kids walk in -40C windchill!
Here's how our spending panned out for the week:
- Groceries ~ $203.70
- Bowling ~ $22.00
- Gas for Shane ~ $20.00
- Bowling tournament Lineage ~ $12.00
- Bowling league ~ $23.00
- Gas for Judi ~ $40.00
- Groceries ~ $14.90
- McDonald's ~ $ 30.25
- Gas for Shane ~ $20.00 (out of grocery money)
- No Spend!
As far as our budget goes, this is what is left:
- Groceries ~ $300 $62.40
- Gas ~ $100 $0.00
- Clothing/Gifts ~ $35.00
- Fun ~ $60.00 $3.00
- Other ~ $14.75
Total Remaining in jars is: $115.15
Yes, we broke one of our goals for the month and went out to eat. On Tuesday when I was sick, Andrew had to go to his paediatrician in Burlington (one of the reasons for the extra $20 in gas money coming out of groceries). Shane and Amy took him and the two girls with them. The traffic was bad, the kids were hungry, so I told Shane just to take them to Mickey D's for lunch. Sometimes things happen. So we took that money out of our "other" jar for the week. I think since we still ended up with $115, we did ok. It was an inexpensive week for groceries because we used our stash in the freezer. Of that extra, $15 will go to Andrew's Cub camp this weekend, and the other $100 will be put away for February birthdays.
I hope everyone had a great week. We are finally well and tonight we will be celebrating Amy's birthday tonight. I hope to bake a cake from scratch today and then have the children decorate it. Wish me luck!
